Construction Trial Win
Construction Trial Win
Wilson Reeder & Zudar Law scored a trial victory for the victims of a negligent home renovation and related billing abuse. Florida Board Certified attorneys Lee Reeder and Matt Wilson tried the construction breach of contract case in Hernando County in September of 2021 — the first civil case tried in the county in over a year and a half due to Covid-19 restrictions. Reeder and Wilson skillfully won the breach of contract and negligence claim and the jury awarded the homeowners twice the amount of the damages they requested.
The case involved a roofing company whose employees were alleged to have started a fire that caused damage to the home during a roof replacement. The contractors also failed to make other repairs and left hazardous debris at the homesite.
Despite the damage and incomplete work, the roofing company sought payment and filed a lien against the homeowners and demanded payment for the roof without accounting for the damage that had been done. The homeowners refused the payment request and the roofer filed suit against the homeowners for lack of compensation.
Reeder and Wilson fought aggressively for justice and compensation for their clients, and at the conclusion of the trial, the jury found in favor of the homeowners. The homeowners won on breach of contract and negligence claims, and they were awarded financial compensation in excess of the damages requested — highlighting a significant and long-awaited victory for their clients.
